As an Engine and EAS Simulation Engineer (1D simulation engineer, GT Suite) in Eindhoven, you build, calibrate and validate the engine models that predict performance and tailpipe emissions of heavy-duty diesel engines long before a prototype runs on a test bed.

You will work for an international automotive client that develops complete engine families for future emission legislation at its own state-of-the-art development centre in Eindhoven. You join the Concept Development team and report to its Engineering Supervisor.

This is a full-time day-shift position at the development site in Eindhoven.

Must-haves

  • MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in internal combustion engines.
  • At least 5 years of experience with simulation activities in the automotive engine industry, preferably diesel engines.
  • Experience in heavy-duty powertrain development, with excellent knowledge of thermodynamics, engine performance, combustion and controls.
  • Proven experience with MATLAB for data analysis, model development and simulation automation.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, attention to detail, a quality- and result-driven mindset and a proactive, collaborative attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with exhaust aftertreatment (EAS) development.
  • Dutch language skills.

  • Perform 1D engine simulations, optimisations and model development in GT Suite.
  • Carry out DI-Pulse combustion calibration and emission calibration.
  • Develop machine learning models for emissions, engine performance and exhaust aftertreatment.
  • Validate and calibrate simulation models using measurement data.
  • Analyse simulation results, translate findings into clear recommendations and present your conclusions to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve model accuracy, computational efficiency, robustness and usability.
  • Initiate model development for new systems, technologies and control concepts.
  • Take ownership of the engine models and functions assigned to you.
  • Develop and run integrated engine and aftertreatment simulations for tailpipe emissions.
  • Potentially work with GT Suite xChem for aftertreatment development (chemical kinetics and gaseous reactions).
