Lead Mechanical Engineer

This role involves several key responsibilities, including:

• Developing modules and functionality that meet performance requirements by specifying and designing them appropriately
• Conceptualizing new ideas and validating their feasibility
• Incorporating the latest construction principles and cutting-edge techniques to create accurate designs that can be manufactured and supplied with ease
• Addressing complex mechanical problems through calculations, testing, and data analysis
• Collaborating with a team of engineers to optimize designs and improve their efficiency
• Defining test specifications and designing test equipment to validate designs, as well as generating necessary technical documentation to enable volume production.

To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate should have:

Education

• A Master's or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a specialization in precision engineering, accurate positioning and adjustments, or mechatronics (with a mechanical background).

Experience

• Over 8 years of experience in precision engineering as a (lead) designer, with at least 2-3 years of experience managing and coaching designers in a small team.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of precision engineering.
• Relevant experience in designing (opto)mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of static and dynamic behavior in structures, as well as thermo mechanics.
• Solid theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the application of construction principles and accurate positioning principles, including the design of degrees of freedom, lightness, and stiffness.
• Strong analytical skills, the ability to conceptualize designs, a pragmatic mindset, and the ability to translate concepts into practical designs that meet specific requirements.
